Thing 4

Reflections of Living in the 21st Century...With Technology. After viewing ALL of the videos and commetaries, I STILL see the need to carry on education the way it has been done for the last century! 21st Century learners have something we didn't have when we were young learners and playful youths. They have the wonderful world wide web. This new communication tool has been and is still improving the way we can search for something, play video games, listen to music, learn, and communicate in a way never before thought was capable. Although I like to surf the web, play games, listen to music, and best of all the ability to keep up with and communicate with family and long lost friends, I think our kids are suffering because we are putting too much into getting them web ready and not academically ready...recall the first video we watched...where did we fall in education? who was the #1 speaking english country. We can still TEACH our kids the importance of our history and the history of the world, teach them the chemistries of life, the biological balances of the world, and most importantly how to STILL communicate verbally with each other and not degenerate our english language into text talk with each other! Balance is the key and I am all for learning this new tool and proud to help my parents learn how to use a computer and navigate through the web! It is a part of our lives, be a part or be left behind. Let's Educate wisely. More thoughts to come.....not done with this yet.

  1. Well said Tina. This Web 2.0 stuff is great, but we do some pretty great things already in education. I hope this just adds too it and doesn't try to replace everything.
